This time, I want to share a little story about the first time doing caving ! Caving is a sport and activity to explore a cave. Emm, but sorry maybe you can’t get the details about the equipment and the technical because … yeah, actually my memory is a bit bad haha. So I just want to tell you about how amazed I was when in the cave.If you imagine a cave is a dark, spooky place, full of bats, or … maybe there is a ghost (?) haha I don’t blame it totally because it’s not totally wrong. IT’S TRUE that the cave is very dark and full of bats! eits, but for you, the true explorers, I think you should try this one ! And for beginners like me, Goa Cokro is perfect.
Cokro Cave is located in Blimbing Hamlet, Umbulrejo Village, Ponjong District, Gunungkidul Regency. This cave is a vertical cave with a 300 meter long aisle. I and my friends (Padmanaba Hiking Club) began our exploration in the morning, assisted by some native experts there. After descending using SRT equipment (Single Rope Technique) as far as approximately 18 meters, I felt that there was magic flowing on my body because I was truly stunned by the beauty of this cave! I see a fairly large stalagmite and also helectites hanging in this cave, oh yeah there is even a flowstone that is still active in this cave, guys ! It was all formed from water droplets for thousands of years and miraculously transformed into stones with various shapes, patterns, and colors. Cool, right? Another interesting thing that keeps my mouth gaping and doesn’t stop saying “wow”…. I also find a batman colony ! haha I mean a lot of bats here ! It’s the first time I’ve seen bats a lot and close ! aah, they are so cute !!! Oh yeah in this cave there is also a sriti bird guys!
Ah this experience is very valuable. Exploring the cave is like a journey to find treasure in a dark place. One more thing to note, there is a quote “Caving is not a solo sport”. Yeah, without my club, I think it would be very difficult to trace Cokro Cave alone. So, if you want to try caving, take your friends! Besides getting a beautiful view, you will get a valuable bonding time! Really really treasures, right ?!
